Yoga has finally acquired the global recognition as an ancient health building system. Many medical practitioners and intellectuals were keen to test yoga using scientific evaluation method and so could eventually establish it as a parallel treatment method.
A complete health with a sound body, mind and soul can be attained through yoga. So stress relief through yoga has been quite a point of discussion. Though yoga for stress relief has not gone through the usual norms of clinical trial, but people around the world doing yoga can vouch for it.
- As mentioned in relaxation method for stress management, Savasana is one of the asanas (yogic pose) prescribed for stress relief. It is relatively easy from other asanas. There are other yogic asanas which should be done under the supervision of a professional.
- Breathing techniques are also a part of yoga which is highly prescribed for stress relief. A simplest form is to take slow deep breath in and out and simultaneously be aware of the flowing breath. As breathing comes under autonomic nervous system, this is extremely difficult. So people are advised to do in a completed devoted yogic session. But if you can practice this all through the day, the effects are fabulous. Tai-chi ( an ancient Chinese method) asks people to do it for at least 7 days before even moving onto other breathing techniques. So do it whenever you become conscious, no matter you are in office, at home or at bus stop. You will take some time for this but start it today. Mind comes under control and a calm mind is not a place for stress.
A 20 minute yogic session 5 times a week works as a great stress buster. But breath awareness has to be a way of life. Breath awareness is must before you ever move onto other serious breathing techniques.
