Stress relief is very abstract if you think in terms medical science and all its drugs. Certainly there is not a formula or drug that can be termed as a stress reliever. It is our reponses to stressors ( stress causing situations) which will ultimately determine the extent of relief.
It is all about the mental and behavioral adjustment in most of the cases. So consciously we train our mind for better responses through all types of stress management techniques. This very type of problem makes hypnosis an extremely powerful tool for stress relief.
- In hypnosis, the conscious mind becomes less active, but still remains awake. At this point, the subconscious mind is especially receptive to suggestions. It is this subconscious mind which responds to suggestions and causes those suggestions to manifest themselves in our mind.
- The subconscious mind is like an obedient servant, it just does what is told to do. On the other hand, the conscious mind does think, reason, and rationalize. This is why the conscious mind needs to be relaxed and quieted before you instruct your subconscious mind to do something.
Hypnosis, for that reason, works as an excellent tool for stress, phobia and fear. It is perfectly suited for learning to respond effectively. But do remember, this is part of the overall stress management program. You need to apply this along with other cognitive or behavioral therapies. Hypnosis relives you from stress and better prepares you for other behavioral and psychological therapies.
- Repetition and reinforcement of the suggestions are usually needed because hypnosis suggestions usually fades within a couple of weeks, and the subconscious mind needs to be told repeatedly what to do in order to convince it that is really what you want.
- This is really important because people change their mind frequently, signaling the subconscious not to take them seriously.
- So for any result, remain consistent with the suggestions and convince your subconscious mind of what you want. It is only for this reason some people do not get benefit of hypnosis and then reject it. Hypnosis is very powerful and using it properly can work wonders for you.
