A lot of research has gone into anxiety disorder treatment and the conclusions also are changing fast. So far the results with anxiety medication available are very encouraging. Basically there are two approaches.

  • Somatic treatment or anxiety medication
  • Cognitive-behavioral approach which is basically coping with anxiety through a variety of anxiety management

Any anxiety medicine without the supervision of a doctor is not at all advisable. There are a variety of anti anxiety drugs and doctors prescribe them only after proper diagnosis. So if the symptoms are severe, do not trust your judgement. In any case do not self prescribe any such anti anxiety drugs.

The other treatment is behavioral. It is a accepted fact that people often make their own unique behavioral adjustment to counter any anxiety disorder. They never go for any official treatment. Many live with the attacks without ever realizing any adjustment nor treatment. Very few go for professional help.

As any sort of medication is prescribed with utmost caution even by medical practitioners, you may want to help yourself with various techniques discussed here. If that fails, then professional help is needed.
